It cites 58,888 transactions in a single block in December 2022 and over 5,000 TPS sustained in a May 2024 community stress test, and its staking page puts block finalization at 2.8 seconds. Why does the site score ALGO 7 for regulation but XRP 6?
Regulation is scored by a short rubric on the Health Score page, not a formula. XRP is one of the named examples of a digital commodity in the SEC and CFTC's March 2026 joint interpretation, but the SEC says the August 2024 SEC v. Ripple final judgment, including the $125,035,150 penalty and the injunction, remains in effect, and the rubric takes a point off for that. The same release names ALGO as a digital commodity even though no futures contract on it trades, so ALGO scores without that deduction.
Do validators earn transaction fees on each network?
Not on XRP: the XRP Ledger's transaction fee is destroyed rather than paid to validators. Algorand's 4.0 upgrade in January 2025 replaced governance rewards with staking rewards that combine 50% of block fees with a Foundation-funded bonus that starts at 10 Algo per block, decays over time and is committed for about 24 months. A participating account needs at least 30,000 Algo, while smaller holders can earn through liquid staking and stake-pool applications.

XRP's profile records no comparable leadership change; its recent chapters are legal and product ones, the appeals dismissed in August 2025 and RLUSD.
