Why these 8 coins, specifically?
Every coin tracked on this page was built (or later positioned) to plug into ISO 20022, the messaging standard replacing SWIFT's old MT format that banks have used to move trillions across borders since the 1970s. Richer data, faster settlement, and native compatibility with modern payment rails — that's the pitch these 8 projects are making, each in its own way.
They're not all making the same bet. XRP targets cross-border payments and XLM targets remittances and stablecoins. QNT connects blockchains and legacy banking systems through an interoperability layer. HBAR pairs a Council of up to 39 organizations with tokenization, and ALGO works on stablecoin, CBDC-experiment and post-quantum use cases. XDC focuses on trade finance. IOTA was rebuilt in May 2025 as a staking Layer 1 aimed at digital trade, identity and tokenization. ADA's tie to the standard is looser than the rest: Cardano's documentation does not mention it. Only Ripple, via RippleNet, appears on ISO's Registration Management Group member list. The other 7 are not on it, and their ISO 20022 claims range from vendor descriptions to none that we could source.
